Delegation from Liverpool, UK Visit ECUST
Headed by Mr. Gary Millar, Deputy Mayor of Liverpool City, a delegation of the city government and the University of Liverpool paid visits to ECUST on November 7th, 2019. Ms. Du Huifang, CCP Party Secretary of ECUST met with the British guests. Mr.Yang Le from the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government, and the directors of relevant departments of ECUST attended the event.
On behalf of ECUST, Ms. Du Huifang extended warm welcome to the British guests from Liverpool, and then she reviewed the cooperation history and progress of ECUST with British universities, especially that with Liverpool University. She pointed out that East China University of Science & Technology is committed to promoting the internationalization of higher education and has conducted positive interactions with the University of Liverpool in the field of chemistry for many years, which have built a bridge for both universities to learn from each other and develop together, and have become a catalyst for the friendship, a booster for the development of the two universities and an accelerator for cultural exchanges between the two universities.
Gregory Miller said that the year of 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of sisterhood between the two cities of Liverpool and Shanghai. It is of good timing and at the right place to visit East China University of Science and Technology, which enjoys a worldwide reputation for scientific research and has cooperated with the University of Liverpool for many years. He agrees very much with President Xi Jinping's development concept of cooperation, innovation and sharing, and hopes that both sides can jointly promote win-win cooperation and to achieve fruitful results.
