ECUST Latest Progress in Design of Acetylene Selective Hydrogenation Catalyst Published in Engineering and German Applied Chemistry

Professor Duan Xuezhi and Dr. Cao Yueqiang, of the Catalytic Reaction Engineering Research Team of the State Key Laboratory of School of Chemical Engineering, ECUST, have made important progress in the regulation of subsurface structure of Pd catalyst for selective hydrogenation of acetylene and the design of active sites of Ni catalyst recently. The related articles entitled “Structural and kinetics understanding of support effects in Pd-catalyzed semi-hydrogenation of acetylene” and “Adsorption site regulation to guide atomic design of Ni-Ga catalysts for acetylene semi-hydrogenation” were published online in Engineering (Doi:10.1016/j.eng.2020.06.023) and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2020, 59, 11647).

The research work has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s Outstanding Youth Science Fund Project, General Project, Youth Project, and Major Natural Science Project of Shanghai Education Commission, and has been under guidance of Professor Zhou Xinggui, Academician Li Yadong and Professor Wang Dingsheng of Tsinghua University, Professor Francisco Zaera of University of California at Riverside, researchers Jiang Zheng and Si Rui of Shanghai Light Source Institute.
